RISCO shortlisted in two categories at the Security & Fire Awards for Excellence 2025

We’re delighted to share that RISCO has been named a finalist in two categories at this year’s Security & Fire Awards for Excellence:
- Security Hardware or Software Manufacturer of the Year
- Software/SaaS Innovation of the Year (for our Cloud Configuration Software – CCS)
As a Security & Fire Awards for Excellence finalist, RISCO’s recognition reflects a sustained run of product innovation, installer-first design, and our commitment to security standards and sustainability across the portfolio. Below is a quick look at what impressed the judges and why it matters for installers, ARCs and end users.
What set RISCO apart: a year of meaningful launches
LightSYS Air (launched August 2024)
A fully wireless Grade 2 intruder system built on the proven LightSYS+ platform, LightSYS Air combines professional performance with fast, tidy deployment. Highlights include built-in Wi-Fi/IP, upgraded 2-way wireless protocol for reliability and range, HandyApp Configurator for keypad-free programming, and support for VUpoint visual verification. A black panel and peripherals range brought a premium aesthetic for design-led homes and retail.
HandyApp Configurator (launched August 2024)
A mobile-first setup tool that lets engineers configure and test systems directly from a smartphone or tablet. HandyApp Configurator reduces install time, improves consistency, and removes the need for a programming keypad or laptop during commissioning.
Cloud Configuration Software (CCS) (launched November 2024)
Our finalist in Software/SaaS Innovation of the Year, CCS brings full remote configuration, diagnostics and updates to the browser. No software installs – just secure, standards-aligned access via RISCO Installer Admin. Template management and time-saving automation streamline repeatable tasks and multi-site rollouts.
Wireless LuNAR FireWatch (launched March 2025)
A 3-in-1 ceiling-mounted detector combining smoke, heat and PIR for integrated life safety and intrusion detection – helping reduce the number of required devices, simplify installs and lower false alarms for residential and commercial sites.
Real-world results: faster deployment, better economics
ADB Alarms (Stoke-on-Trent) expanded their residential projects by adopting LightSYS Air, achieving 10% overall business growth and completing ~5 additional installs per week – thanks to CCS, HandyApp Configurator, the reliability of the upgraded wireless protocol, and reduced follow-up visits. Homeowners value the modern design (including the black panel option), iRISCO app control and visual verification via VUpoint. Read full case study.
Why installers benefit
- Speed & simplicity: Wireless hardware, built-in connectivity and mobile commissioning cut time on site and reduce disruption.
- Remote-first operations: CCS enables cloud configuration, diagnostics, firmware updates and Remote Routine Inspections (RRI) – improving first-time fixes.
- Lower total cost of ownership: Fewer site visits and faster commissioning protect margins while making professional security more accessible.
- Future-ready: Modular hardware, roadmap peripherals and expanding integrations keep systems current without rip-and-replace.
Built on standards: physical, cyber and cloud
- Intruder compliance: EN50131 Grade 2/3 as appropriate; PD6662:2017 compliance in the UK.
- Cloud & signalling: iRISCO and RISCO Cloud align with EN 50136 for alarm transmission and supervision.
- Cyber & privacy: ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 27701 (privacy) aligned, TLS 1.3 encrypted communications, and enforced 2FA.
- Quality & environment: ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).
Designed with sustainability in mind
Sustainability runs through design, manufacturing and service delivery:
- Packaging & materials: Lightweight, recyclable/recycled cartons reduce material use and transport impact.
- Digital-first documentation: QR-code manuals eliminate mass printing and reduce waste.
- Energy & operations: Our primary manufacturing site is powered 100% by on-site solar, with surplus fed back to the grid.
- Lean logistics: Shipment consolidation and preference for sea freight where feasible further reduce environmental footprint.
- Cloud efficiency: CCS and HandyApp reduce the need for local configuration hardware and unnecessary site visits.
What this means for customers
For installers, RISCO’s platform approach – LightSYS Air + HandyApp + CCS + VUpoint – means faster installs, lower running costs, stronger cyber posture, and happier end users who get modern control via the iRISCO app and the elegant look of the black device range. For end customers, it’s professional-grade protection that’s reliable, easier to live with and better looking.
Looking ahead
We’re continuing to invest in the roadmap, with additional wireless peripherals and video options, deeper HandyApp analytics/diagnostics, and expanded integrations – all underpinned by ongoing cyber-hardening and sustainability improvements.
