Building the Future: RISCO at the ‘Engineering Futures’ Event with Skills for Security

SfS London

This month, RISCO UK had the privilege of participating in Engineering Futures—an impactful industry event hosted by our partners at Skills for Security, held at the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering in London.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was more than just a networking opportunity. Engineering Futures celebrated something vital to the longevity and relevance of our industry: the power of apprenticeships and the development of the next generation of security professionals.

Why Apprenticeships Matter

At RISCO UK, we believe addressing the skills gap in the security sector requires more than just talk—it takes commitment, investment and follow-through. We’re proud to support Skills for Security not just as sponsors, but as active participants in shaping a workforce that’s equipped for tomorrow’s challenges.

Apprenticeships are a cornerstone of that future. They offer real-world experience, hands-on technical training, and a direct path to a fulfilling career. It’s a model that benefits everyone—learners, employers and the wider industry.

Two of our own technical support engineers are shining examples of this. Both completed the Skills for Security apprenticeship programme with distinctions, and today they play a crucial role in delivering high-quality service and expertise to our partners and customers.

The Power of Community

The evening brought together a passionate mix of professionals and educators, all aligned on one vision: a stronger, more skilled security industry. We heard powerful stories of career journeys, company-led initiatives, and collaborative efforts to support early careers.

One of the most inspiring moments came with the announcement of KHG Security Limited as Small Employer of the Year. Their recognition is a testament to what can be achieved when organisations invest in people and future-proof their operations through meaningful development.

Our Commitment

For RISCO UK, being part of Engineering Futures wasn’t just about attending another event—it was about reinforcing our role as an industry leader that puts its values into action.

We’ll continue supporting Skills for Security and other initiatives that provide clear, sustainable pathways into our sector. Because this isn’t just about filling vacancies. It’s about building a security industry that is inclusive, future-ready, and driven by purpose.

To all who joined us—thank you for the conversations, the energy, and the shared vision. And to the apprentices in attendance: you’re not just the future of the industry—you’re shaping it already.
